FAQ

How good do I need to be to join?

You can join COSMIC whatever your musical ability. There is no audition or ability level you have to pass before you can join. Everyone and anyone is welcome. If you aren’t confident about your voice, or if your voice needs some work, then being part of one of our community choirs will help with both those issues. Equally if you feel you don't make the most out of your instrument Tootennany Players will help your development whilst making new musician friends.

Is there an audition to join?

No, anyone can join. There is no audition required, you don’t need any experience and you don’t need to read music. COSMIC is all about having a go and having fun.

Who runs the music groups?

Felicity "Flick" Griffin is the founder of COSMIC. She is also your conductor and director. With lots of community music experience as a musical director, a vocal and orchestral conductor, and a pianist you're in safe hands!

Do I need to read music to join the choirs?

No, you do not need to know any music theory or be able to sight read music to be part of our community choirs. We know how to make a choir sound great even if you can't read a note.

Do I need to read music to join the orchestra?

Whilst it is preferable that you can read the score for your instrument, we may be able to arrange something and wouldn't want to turn you away. If you have concerns, please contact us to arrange something.

How much does it cost?

The weekly choirs and orchestral groups are £3 for your first session so you can get a feel for the group, then just £5 per session after that to be be paid in 5 weeks blocks of £25 thereafter.
